During my recent trip to Manchester (To see the Old Trafford stadium!!!), I spent a day at the Trafford Centre – shopping and eating of course.
Amongst all the fancy unexplored restaurants, we chose TGI Fridays. Initially I thought it was a silly decision because there is a Fridays branch in Muscat but when I was done with my lunch, I was so glad I decided on this calorie fest heaven. Here’s the short story of my splendid lunch.
It was Monday but the place was packed. We waited for 15 minutes till a small table for two was offered to us. I need to appreciate the prompt and impressive service here. Hats off to the team!
For starters, we ordered Jack Daniels Chicken Sesame Bites. Now this is something I wouldn’t get in Muscat, haha. The dish consisted of crispy chicken breast strips glossed with JD and garnished with sesame and chilli flakes. OMG this starter was awesome. Just awesome. Mildly sweet and super succulent.
For beverages, we chose Purple Rain and Haymarket (marked as Absolute Try).
Some old rum, blue curacao, vodka, Chambord and a drizzle of grenadine made up the Purple Rain. It looked beautiful, tasted beautiful and paired with the food amazingly.
Haymarket was a blend of Absolut Raspberri, apple liqueur, fresh oranges and raspberries with a touch of sugar. It was fruitier than Purple Rain; definitely a fun and refreshing start to the meal.
Fun Fact – TGI Fridays has over 900 branches in 60 countries and Thank God for it!
The restaurant is very spacious and also consists of two levels. The décor was as usual, exceptionally well done. Cheesy antiques, slogans and posters adorned the walls. The ambience was loud, chirpy and filled with cheerful faces everywhere (The staff and diners!).
Moving on to the main course, we decided to try their new dishes Cripsy Tostada Stacks and Warrior Burger.
Cripsy Tostada Stacks, as you can tell from its name, is a pile of crispy tortillas sandwiching melted cheddar, Cajun-spiced chicken and rice, jalapenos, garlic, chilies and topped with pico de gallo (salsa), sour cream and spicy guac. It was as spicy as it sounds, delish and very filling too! (Veg option also available)
Warrior consisted of two mighty beef patties piled high with mozarella dippers, colby cheese, crispy bacon, American cheese, caramelized onions and Fridays special mayo. This huge piece of joy was paired with onion rings and chips. It was big and it was tasty. No regrets at all.
TGI Fridays makes for a great place to dine with its excellent food, spectacular interiors and superb service. The menu is priced reasonably with amazing inexpensive drinks. There was not a single moment of even slight disappointment. The trained staff took good care of us!
And the food. Pure American indulgence. <3
