Pez Vela Chiringuito, Barcelona

Last summer I visited Barcelona and had the pleasure of dining at some really amazing restaurants there. But I never got the time to write about it. Since I don’t have my distressful job or exams to worry about anymore, voila! Here’s my visit to a spectacular location in Barcelona called the Barcelenota Boardwalk. It is adjacent to the W Hotel, lined with pubs and restaurants flaunting an incredible view of the coast to its visitors.

Pez Vela Chiringuito is one of the restaurants in front of W that is blessed with this view.

The Spanish restaurant has a modern industrial décor with outdoor and indoor seating. Unfortunately, the terrace was fully booked when I had arrived. The weather was perfect, the sun had just set and it made the coastline look gorgeous than ever in the twilight. This was the view I got from my indoor table LOL

The restaurant serves mainly Mediterranean cuisine and Spanish seafood dishes. I opted for the 4 course meal which opened with the Ham Croquettes and salad. The croquettes came with a crispy crumb coating and delicious creamy filling. The salad was fresh and tasty.

Next arrived the Andalasian Style Squid. I’m not very fond of calamari (Weird, I know!) but these were tasty yet a little chewy.

The clams with tomato, chilli and basil were my favourite.  They were beautifully tender and taste wise, a total winner. I stuffed myself with these.

My mains included a free range chicken with French fries and a seafood paella. The chicken was tender, juicy and delectable. The French fries were not so great; they were soggy and lacked freshness.

The paella consisted of bomba rice, squids, prawns and clams. It wasn’t the best paella I had tasted but definitely possessed flavours of traditional cooking.

Mousse de chocolate was my dessert for the evening and it was too much to handle. It was moist and heavenly sweetened. Too sweet for my palate, I had to leave some. But totally delicious.

Pez Vela turned out to be exciting and delicious dining affair. Definitely recommended for the view it offers but the food seems to be hit and run so I hope you get lucky with that!
